Bag icons: the Fendi Baguette

Fendi’s iconic Baguette bag, one of the earliest “It Bags,” has been around for 25 years.

The Italian company’s goal was to design a bag that was unlike anything else available at the time and was also compact enough to be hung under the arm like a loaf of bread in France. This is why it has that specific name.

This rectangular bag, including a flap and a short strap, shot to fame and made the company a lot of money very quickly.

The Baguette was the first item to have a waiting list in the United States and Europe and has since been presented in an unlimited variety of materials, textures, and colors.

Because of its prominent role in an episode of Sex and the City, it has become a must-have for any self-respecting trendsetter.
